Disability Program
ORNOB's Policy regarding disabilities is often dominated by the notion of "equalization of opportunities, rights and empowerment", which means that society must employ its resources in such a way that every individual, including persons with disabilities (PWD), has an equal opportunity to participate in society. It believes in creating an inclusive and barrier free society for all people with disabilities in the country through the promotion of equal rights and opportunities and ensures participation of persons with disabilities into mainstream development. Since its inception on 2003 of the Disability program, ORNOB is active to eliminate sufferings of persons with disabilities based on society's prejudice and ignorance and apt to ensure equality, socio-economic and cultural independence and participation in decision-making process.
Activities:
Awareness and advocacy for establishing rights and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities.
Health care services through door to door therapy, referral, surgery, camps and campaigns.
Education through inclusive pre-schools, non-formal education and integrating into mainstream education.
Training and Capacity Building on disability and development issues, activities of daily living, organizational management, IGAs and vocational trades.
Accessibility and Mobility through facilitate assistive and adaptive devices, making the environment free from structural and physical barriers.
Rehabilitation through the implementation of CBR, promotion of self-help movement, socio-economic and cultural Integration.
IGAs through micro credit development, small enterprise management including center and home-based trades/vocations.
Self-help movement through organizing disabled people’s organizations and branch development over the country.
